- Why this patent rocks: This patent relates to Austrian Audio’s GmbH’s CC8 carotid condenser microphone, for use on stage and in studio. The new condenser capsule has a micron-thick, gold-coated, polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) diaphragm. Austrian Audio states that the “capsule and transformerless output gives the CC8 a remarkably linear frequency response, handling extremely high sound pressure levels (SPL) of up to 156 dB” without distortion.
